Robert Royle Chairman

Rob

I am 60 yrs Old. I have been married to Pam for 38 yrs and Have 2 Adult Children with an 8 yr old Granddaughter. I was Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in May 2017  when I was 54.  It was shock to me due to my age  and because I did not have any symptoms. It was traced by having a routine blood test. Every medical person I spoke to prior to my results were convinced I did not have cancer but when I had the Biopsy it came back positive with a Gleeson Score of 7, 3+4, with a PSA of 10. I then was started on Hormone tablets and then Hormone injections and finally Radiotherapy. I am now in remission and my. last PSA test was 0.008 and has been like this for the last 5 yrs . I became the chairman of the group in March 2023.

Secretary Pat Millership

My husband Peter was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 2008 when he was 60 years old he received Hormone Treatment and Radiotherapy at the Christie Hospital.

Early in 2010 we were approached by Peter’s two clinical nurses Helen Johnson and Jill Youd who worked in Urology at Salford Royal Hospital and they realised that as there was no Prostate Cancer Support Group in Salford and would we like to help by attending the first meeting at Elm Bank Banqueting and Conference Centre, Half Edge Lane, Eccles and we have been with the group ever since.

I took over as secretary seven years ago.
